MODERN MATCHMAKING

How does WeMet work?

A matchmaking service built around one weekly introduction, not a feed to scroll.

Last updated: 26 October 2026

WeMet (wemet.dating) is a modern matchmaking service for adults in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United States and Canada. No swiping and no chat: WeMet uses AI to choose one introduction a week, when there is someone who fits what you both said you want, and explains why before you see a photo. Introductions open city by city.

There is no feed and no swiping, and there is no chat between members before you both say yes. You join with your mobile number and email, answer a short quiz, build a profile, and from there WeMet does the looking for you. Below is the sequence, in order.

1. Join with your mobile number and email

Joining starts with a code sent to a mobile number from one of the five countries WeMet serves (Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United States and Canada) and a code sent to your email. Your postcode decides your distance and your country, and introductions never cross countries. If you live in Sydney and are looking for a matchmaker, this is the sequence you will go through, the same as it is anywhere else WeMet operates.

2. A free personality quiz, not a relationship prediction

Once you have joined, you answer a 25-question quiz. It is free. From your answers, WeMet works out your WeMet type, one of eight ways of describing how you tend to connect with people. You also get a free type report and a share card that shows your type only, never your name or photo.

Some questions are adapted from well-studied personality research; the eight types are WeMet's own way of describing your results. It is not a clinical or diagnostic test. Take the quiz to see your own.

3. Build your profile and add your photos

After the quiz, you build your profile: the basics, what you are looking for, and your photos, with the first showing your face clearly. Adding at least one photo puts you on the founding-member waitlist. Before your first introduction, you need at least 3 approved photos and a photo check: a selfie that is compared with your main profile photo. You can add up to 6. Your mobile number and email are already verified. We do not ask for government identification. Every photo is checked by a person before it is shown.

4. When introductions open where you live

Introductions have started in Singapore. Other cities open one by one, as enough suitable members join nearby. Until they open where you live, you are on the founding-member waitlist. Once introductions are open where you live, the rhythm works like this: a letter on Wednesday at 7pm your time, written by WeMet's AI and signed WeMet. You read why WeMet thinks you might get on with that person before you see their photo. You then have three days to decide. Once you both say yes, you'll both see each other's contact details straight away, and you can also chat for up to 7 days to plan a meeting. Chat is plain text only. WeMet checks messages for safety; a person reviews anything flagged.

One introduction each week when there is someone who fits what you both said you want. Some weeks there will be no one. We will tell you either way.

This is dating without swiping in practice: one person a week, with reasons given first, rather than a list to browse.

5. Pause anytime, resume when you are ready

Taking part each week is a choice you make, not a default you are stuck with. If a week is busy, or you need a break, you can pause, and resume whenever you are ready.

How introductions are chosen

WeMet's AI chooses from what you both said you want, and learns from your feedback over time. Some things are never left to that learning: your age range, distance, whether you want children, smoking, your relationship goal and safety blocks are fixed rules, not preferences an algorithm can override. There is no compatibility percentage shown, and a person usually reviews the weekly list as well. Your WeMet type is how your results are described to you; it is not how introductions are chosen, so most introductions will be other types than the type that naturally complements yours in the WeMet type story. This is a story about styles, not a prediction.

Safety and support

Support is available every day from 9am to 9pm Sydney time, by chat and email, and a person sends every reply. Safety reports are acknowledged within 2 hours during those hours. If you are in immediate danger, call 000 (Australia) or your local emergency number. WeMet's community expectations are set out on the standards page.

What it costs

Joining, building your profile, verification and introductions are free. An optional paid tier called Plus is not open yet; details and pricing in each country's own currency will be published on the pricing page before it opens.
