Toronto First Meetings, Season by Season
How a Toronto introduction could play out from High Park's autumn colour to a summer ferry to the Island — WeMet's modern matchmaking, at most one a week.
Introductions have started in Singapore. Other cities open one by one.

Toronto in October is not Toronto in February, and a first meeting should know the difference.
WeMet (wemet.dating) is a modern matchmaking service for adults in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United States and Canada. No swiping and no chat: WeMet uses AI to choose one introduction a week, when there is someone who fits what you both said you want, and explains why before you see a photo. Introductions open city by city.
High Park in autumn colour

High Park could suit an autumn plan. About two-thirds of the park remains in a natural state, with trails and gardens around Grenadier Pond, which could suit an autumn walk. A slow loop around the pond gives two people somewhere to walk that is not a straight line to a destination, which suits a first meeting better than it sounds. Further east, Evergreen Brick Works sits inside the Don Valley ravines, a former brick factory turned public green space.
Underground when the snow settles

Toronto's winter has a workaround: the PATH, a mostly underground pedestrian walkway network in downtown Toronto, which could keep a winter first meeting indoors. St. Lawrence Market, an indoor public market closed Mondays, works well for an hour of browsing stalls. The Royal Ontario Museum gives the same hour a different shape, something to look at before there is much to say. Nadège Patisserie has several shops around the city, useful when a short stop is all a cold evening calls for. Outside, Nathan Phillips Square runs its rink each winter, which could suit two people who would rather do something than sit still — standing at the rail and watching counts too.
Kensington Market, once the ice breaks

Spring is when Kensington Market earns a visit on foot. The neighbourhood sits between Dundas Street West and College Street, west of Spadina Avenue, and is recognised as a National Historic Site of Canada, which gives a walk through it more to talk about than the shopfronts alone. A slower spring option sits in the Distillery District, where Balzac's Coffee Roasters occupies the circa-1895 Pump House — a building with its own story before either of you says a word.
Across to the Island, ferry by ferry

By summer, the water comes back into it. The ferry to Toronto Island leaves from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal at 9 Queens Quay West. Seasonal service varies, so check the City's ferry page first. The trip works better as a start than as the whole plan, for two people who already know the first hour went well and want somewhere with more room to keep talking.
Eastern Time, before and after the clocks go back
Ontario's age of majority is 18, which sets the age to join from Toronto. Clocks here go back an hour on the first Sunday in November. Once introductions open in Toronto, a letter is timed to 7pm Toronto time on a Wednesday, either side of that change, with three days to decide. Wherever a Toronto profile gets introduced, it stays inside the same country — Canada is one of five countries WeMet works in, each kept separate from the others.
Questions
Could I be introduced to someone in Mississauga?
Possibly. WeMet works out distance from postcode and travel time, not city borders, so a Toronto profile and a Mississauga profile could be close enough. There is no promise either way — it depends on who fits what you both said you want.
Where could a first meeting go when Toronto turns cold?
Somewhere indoors, like St. Lawrence Market (closed Mondays) or the Royal Ontario Museum, rather than a walk along the water.
Could I be introduced to someone across the border in Buffalo?
No. Buffalo sits across the border in the United States — a different one of WeMet's five countries — so an introduction from a Toronto profile stays on the Canadian side only.
What age do I need to be to join WeMet from Toronto?
18, the age of majority in Ontario.
Is WeMet open in Toronto yet?
Not yet. Introductions have not started in Toronto yet. Introductions have started in Singapore. Other cities open one by one. You can join, verify your phone and email, take the free quiz and build your profile in Toronto today, free of charge.
How does WeMet verify members who join from Toronto?
The same steps everywhere: you verify your mobile number and email, then take a selfie that is compared with your main profile photo before anyone else sees you. In Illinois, Texas, Washington and Quebec, a person — not face-recognition software — does that check. WeMet never asks for a driver licence, passport or other government identification.
Where is my data stored if I join from Toronto?
In Australia, in Sydney. WeMet holds all its data there, whichever of the five countries you join from. Support is available every day, 09:00–21:00 Sydney time, in English and Chinese.
If introductions open in Toronto, how would the weekly letter work?
When introductions open where you live, WeMet writes to you once a week — at 7pm your time, Eastern time (EDT/EST) in Toronto — only when there is someone who fits what you both said you want. You would have three days to decide, and some weeks there would be no one.
